Our History | Our Pastors | Our Vision

St. Paul's is a part of the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, and is thus a part of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America. The Episcopal Church is part of the world-wide Anglican Communion, which includes the Church of England and dozens of other churches throughout the world. The Anglican Communion is grounded in the affirmation of:
(a) The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as "containing all things necessary to salvation," and as being the rule and ultimate standard of faith.
(b) The Apostles' Creed, as the Baptismal Symbol; and the Nicene Creed, as the sufficient statement of the Christian faith.
(c) The two Sacraments ordained by Christ Himself--Baptism and the Supper of the Lord--ministered with unfailing use of Christ's words of Institution, and of the elements ordained by Him.
(d) The Historic Episcopate, locally adapted in the methods of its administration to the varying needs of the nations and peoples called of God into the Unity of His Church.
St. Paul's has always been active in the community, as well as in the Church, and the global community. For instance, it is part of the Montrose Ministry of Christian Service (MCS). For the past twenty years St. Paul's, the Presbyterian Church, the Methodist Church, and Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church have provided assistance to individuals and families in need within the immediate area. MCS provides assistance throughout the year, but especially at Christmas and Easter. Needy families receive food boxes at Christmas and Easter, and more than two hundred children receive Christmas gifts each year.
In 2001 St. Paul's initiated the 'End of Day' after school program. At the end of the school day, children gather at several local schools for supervised activities until they can be picked up to go home. On the average, fourteen to twenty children at each school take advantage of this opportunity for interaction with peers, homework assistance, and a variety of educational activities.
St. Paul's is active within the community and also in Africa. The parish has a special relationship with the Pomoju parish in the Diocese of Kajo Keji, one of 24 dioceses of the Anglican Communion, in the Southern Sudan. St. Paul's has been instrumental in building and maintaining a school for women, named in memory of the former rector's daughter, Dr. Katherine Moulton.
In 1925 the donor of St. Paul's parish house, Mr. Samuel Warriner, stipulated that the building should be used for the benefit of the entire community, as well as the parish. To actualize his wish, he left a trust fund for the use of the building upkeep. Since its construction over 85 years ago, this generous gift to St. Paul's and the community has been used for hundreds of community events, including Scout meetings, blood drives, fund-raising, AA weekly meetings, special events, classes, and meetings of numerous community organizations.
